In the United States

At least 1.5 million children in the U.S. have one parent in the prison system.

... a quote I saw pop up during a documentary we watched on San Quentin yesterday on MSNBC. I'm not sure the verbage is precise --- but the number is horrifying...

A figure I read a couple of years ago when I was still in the public school business is that over 55% of the children in the U.S. are unchurched. I'd say that's a direct reflection on our prison population. So sad....

It seems as though that is a mission field ripe for the harvest right here on US soil!

Blessings & hugs!

Yes it's quite alarming. Not only do their parents need some support in getting their lives right, but the spouse who is left home with comforting grieving children need so much help too. If we fail to reach the incarcerated parent and offer support, the family at home continues to suffer. Thank you for your compassionate heart!
